To Aunt Jean Ann and Caron, Nancy, Mark, Susan, Amy, Brian and in-laws and grandchildren of dear Uncle Mark,

Usually one attends a funeral hoping to offer comfort to the immediate family. Yet, your loving and beautiful Mass yesterday, scripture and song selections, prayers of the Faithful, anecdotes, and Mark's last widows letter inserted in the program (thank you so much for doing that!) helped to console me.

How you did it, I don't know, but you all pulled together and managed to honor him in an unforgetable way.

Thank you all for taking such good care of Uncle Mark during his lifetime and for helping the rest of us say good bye to him.

We will miss him at the Cranberry Bowl!!!

To all the Mark Cronins:

What a wonderful, wonderful honor your Dad received with his funeral.

Nancy's and Mark's speeches were moving and hilarious, I suspect just the way your Dad wanted them.

It was a great day for Victoria and me and thank you for including us in the lunch.

DEAR MARK:

Although I may not have been the "ideal candidate" to have Caron's hand in marriage, you welcomed me into your life and family without hesitation - something for which I will always remember when trying to deal with my own children and the individuals that they choose to live the rest of their lives with. Your ability to always be able to keep things in the proper perspective - regardless of how you might have truely felt inside - has always amazed me. You have been and always will be someone that your family and friends looked up to - and I am no exception. You will be dearly missed.

Brian, Barb, and the entire Cronin Family.

98th and Leavitt was synonomous with good times growing up. I always looked forward to time spent with Brian. As a teenager, I always remembered his parents as being really cool, or that was their way of putting up with Brian.

My best memories of his dad was Sunday's at Ridge Park. Boys vs. Choir Boys. My prayers are with all of you.

To all the Cronin Family

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you today. Mark was a great man and I learned many things from him, most through his stories that he told me over the 12 years we worked together. Even after I left Chicago and would come back to visit "the boys of Knickerbocker", he would be the first to ask me how I was doing and if there was anything he could do for me. I will miss him.

Popa Mark was a great grandfather and really showed us grandchildren how to be a family. He will always have a special place in my heart. I will deeply miss my grandpa and remember all the times I spent with him here in Chicago and in Long Beach. I love you grandpa!

Dear Family and Friends,

Friday, January2, 2004 was a very sad day for my family. However, it was a day filled with many activities my Dad liked to do. Please allow me to share this with you. My Dad was in Long Beach where he spent a significant amount of time during his entire life. He started his day with Mass and breakfast with friends where he entertained them with some jokes and stories. He came home and called his beloved sister Kay to wish her a Happy New Year. It was a mild day so he was able to take a long walk on the beach. He loved walking on the beach whenever he could. I had the good fortune to accompany him many times in my life. He came home to play bridge with their friends the Lawlers. It was men against the women and the men won. My Dad just hated to lose. After they left, he started a fire. He loved sitting in front of the fire and we did it often as a family in Beverly. He then grabbed his remote sat in his green chair and then God called him home. I guess how lucky he was to enjoy so many of his pleasures in life on his last day. My Dad was the most giving, selfless loving person you could ever meet. He was called a CHAMPION FOR THE UNDERDOG a name he rightly deserved. He gave of himself in so many ways to so many people. He was an example to all. I loved him dearly and will miss him so much. Rest in Peace Dad. Love, Amy (pooky)
