Mark Balmes, Jr. Obituary

I randomly searched Mark's name in Atlanta and chanced upon his obit...we had known him as a neighbor when we each bought our first homes around 1977. He took me to see the Atlanta (Golf) Classic with BellSouth tix.

Mark was a good guy...so sorry to learn that he did not live a normal, longer lifespan.

My condolences to Mark's family.

I knew Mark at Georgia Tech. He was a great guy, a super friend, and we had many laughs together. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Mark had the ability to be both a supervisor and a friend. He picked up anything that was thrown at him so easily, was open with his thoughts and comments, and always showed a smile during the tough times. And he liked to kid.

I remember Mark from a much happier time at BellSouth in the early 1990's. He was very professional but love to kid around. He loved his family. He will be missed

My family knew Mark and his family when they first moved to Atlanta from Chicago. I got to know Mark even better when we carpooled to Georgia Tech! He always had a smile and was a big tease. Little did we know that our paths would cross again at BellSouth. He will be missed.

I also remember working with Mark at the Whitlock Engineering office, and the fun we had there. I am saddened by his passing. "Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8

It was with deep regret that I learned of Mark's death. Like so many of you, Mark and I became acquainted while employed with BellSouth, and during that time we became good friends. We spent many hours on Lake Allatoona just hanging out, discussing the worlds problems, and enjoying the peace a body of water brings to the soul. Mark will be missed by many, and I pray that his family gain peace and comfort through the knowledge that he is with our Lord and safely home. I

I am so deeply saddened to hear the news of Mark's death. He was my first boss when I began working at Ma Bell back in the late 1970's. We remained friends all these years. In fact, I had just heard from him in June hoping he would be able to come to our BellSouth reunion of friends who had worked together back at the Whitlock Avenue location in Marietta, GA. He said that he wasn't driving yet due to having some surgery. I had hoped to see him then. Please know that he was a great person - I can close my eyes and still hear that wonderful laugh he had. I pray God will grant you all His peace and comfort you in the upcoming days, weeks, and months that lie ahead.

Mark was such a great person who touched the lives of so many in very special and meaningful ways...his sense of humor, his kindness and love of family are just a few...I celebrate Mark's life and feel very blessed that we are Justin's parents, he will always be loved and remembered by me...Deb Snyder Redmond
