Marjorie Hayes Obituary

Mrs. Marjorie Elizabeth Bradshaw Hayes, 86, 0f 1038 Perth Road and formerly of Falls Church, Virginia passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Genesis Care in Mooresville, NC following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on April 4, 1917 in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Henry Bradshaw and Eleanor Taylor Bradshaw. She graduated from Durfee High School and Bryant Business College. She came to Washington, DC in 1939 and worked for the federal government, retiring in the mid 1970’s. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing and playing piano. She was active in her church, Troutman Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 7 years olds. On April 17, 1948, she married Mr. Royal Raymond Hayes who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Ms. Elizabeth Susan Hayes of McLean, Va. and Ms. Margaret Hayes Howell of Annandale, Va.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday April 19th at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Childers officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 PM.

Funeral services will later be held at the Murphy Funeral Home Chapel at 1102 W. Broad St., Falls Church, Va. at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 23rd with burial to follow in the Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Va. beside her parents. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Troutman Baptist Church, 305 Perry Rd. Troutman, NC 28166 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Carolina Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215. Condolences may be sent to the family by e-mail a www.legacy.com. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Ave., Statesville NC is entrusted with the arrangements.
