Marie Kocian Obituary

Kocian, Marie J. May 11, 1920 February 5, 2013. Age 92, of Berwyn, Illinois/Seal Beach, California. "Marcy" passed away peacefully on February 5, 2013, in Long Beach, California. Marcy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 11, 1920 to Marie and Wenceslaus B. Havel. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Steve J. Kocian, in 1985, and her devoted younger brother, James Havel, in 1983. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Carmela and Dr. H. Terry Wepsic, Huntington Beach, CA. Also surviving are son, Steven D. Kocian (Debra) of Gurnee, Illinois; granddaughter, Stacey D. Kocian (Bryan Luman) of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and great-grandson, Simon Luman. Marcy was a devoted, caring wife, mother, sister and friend. She grew up in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. She attended Sacred Heart Academy High School for girls in Lisle, Illinois, 1934-38. She worked as an administrative assistant for Berwyn Lumber Company and Hines Lumber Company during the 1940's-50's. Marcy was a wonderful wife and mother, bringing joy and good times to friends and family. Mom became a "die-hard" Cubs fan in her later years, and enjoyed watching the games. She moved to Leisure World Senior Community, Seal Beach, CA, in 1991. She especially enjoyed her senior years in California, her many new friends, and also travels in Europe and the American West. She cherished her dearest, life-long friends, the Dvorak family, who truly loved their "Aunt Marcy." A memorial gathering will be arranged in the near future in Illinois. Her ashes will be buried at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Stickney, Illinois, next to her beloved husband, Steve. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Arthritis Foundation, www.arthritis.org.

Dear Carmy,

It's been 9 years now.....My "best friend's Mom" is surely at peace now, and pain-free. In good hands... I know how much you miss her.....
Thinking of you and both your parents...with love, as always.

Your time of suffering has now come to an end, preceded by years of being a wonderful Mom, Aunt, and friend to many, even a "best friend's Mom" as you were to me. You have left behind a loving daughter who had been so devoted to you, so thoughtful, always trying to keep back those tears and worries from you as she went about making sure that you would have the best care possible - always. You will be missed by so many, and remembered in our prayers as you are now reunited with your close ones. May this candle stay lit as long as our memories of you and your kindness shine in our hearts. May you rest in peace, Marcy.

There's a beautiful heaven where there isn't any pain, only joy and light. In God's embrace. Reunited with everyone she loved. And Mom is now there, young and free and happy again. We will always love her and miss her,
