Maria Sanchez Obituary

Sanchez, Maria D. Age 82, of Hammond, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014. Maria is survived by her husband, of 61 years Vicente; children, Sonia (Rudy) Mancilla, Veronica (Jesus) Guerrero, Lourdes (Victor) Hermosillo, Jorge (Paty) Sanchez, Sergio (Barb) Sanchez, Cesar (April) Sanchez, Joel (Gigi) Sanchez and Noe' (Jeff) Sanchez; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Maria cherished the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and had a passion for roses; she grew a beautiful rose bush from a single stem. Maria enjoyed knitting and loved to cook for and feed her adoring family. She will be dearly missed. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond with Fr. Charles Mosley officiating. Maria will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
