Shrode, Lynn (Mary) (nee Williams) Age 78, born in Chicago, Illinois, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at her home in Ormond Beach, FL. She was attended at her death by her daughter, Elizabeth A. Collins. Lynn was the daughter of the Hugh D. Williams, late of Blowing Rock, NC and Rosemary (Rosina) Tiberi Williams, late of Blue Island, IL. She was the big sister to an infant brother (unnamed). As a young girl, Lynn attended St. Ailbe in Chicago and then Aquinas High School. She enjoyed traveling to Blowing Rock, NC or Daytona Beach, FL to visit with her father's side of the family. She loved spending time in the kitchen with her Aunt Rose Juliano Tiberi and then later her Uncle Joseph Tiberi making homemade pasta and sauce! Lynn was married to the late Jack Allen Shrode in 1955 in Blue Island, IL. Lynn was a loving mother and enjoyed a close relationship with her four children. Her love of books led her to volunteer at the Riverdale Library in Riverdale, IL where she and Jack made their home before moving to a larger home in the neighboring Dolton, IL. After Jack's retirement in the 1980's, the couple moved from Dolton, IL to Keeler, MI and then to Ormond Beach, FL. They sponsored an annual family reunion with their immediate family every summer at their second home, inherited from Lynn's father, Hugh, in Blowing Rock, NC. Lynn loved to tell the tales of her youth spent in and around Blowing Rock and recount her free visits to the movies, candy store and Williams' Cafe owned by one of her many aunts and uncles. Lynn was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, movies, theater, cooking, music, art and reading. As a lifelong learner, she loved meeting new people and could converse on a variety of subjects. Lynn traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world visiting such places as Canada, Egypt, Italy, Great Britain, India, China, and France. Her favorite cities included Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Burgos, Rome and Venice. Lynn was a member of the Blowing Rock Art and Historical Museum, Ormond Beach Moose Lodge and the Ormond Beach Italian American Club. As a previous volunteer docent at the Museum of Art and Science in Daytona Beach, she guided school children through the exhibits. She was a generous patron to the arts and was proud of her participation in her one and only Daytona Playhouse theatre production as the Light Board Operator! Lynn passed on her love of reading, good food, travel and movies to her surviving four children and their spouses, Elizabeth A. Collins of Ormond Beach, FL.; John D. Shrode (Denise Rubin) of Hurst, TX; Drake M. Shrode (Ann Riordan) of Orland Park, IL.; and, Stuart W. Shrode (Mary Jostes Shrode) of Northport, NY. (Kidd) and Wilford E. Shrode; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilford B. and Patricia (Darling) Shrode and her dear cousin, Virginia (Tiberi) Bauer.
