Lydia Dominguez Obituary

Harlingen, TX - Lydia Rendon Dominguez (79) born August 10, 1937 in San Benito, Texas has gone to her rest on July 1, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Daniel Dominguez, her Mother Guadalupe Leal, her Father Francisco Rendon, her brothers Emilio Rendon, Ruben Rendon, Ramon Rendon and Victor Rendon; her sisters Emma Cantu, Guadalupe Cavazos, Elodia Valdez and her son-in-law Rick Anthony Bachman.

She is survived by her children Daniel Dominguez, Jr. (Petra Dominguez), Roberto Dominguez, Diana Dominguez-Bachman, Olga Mercado, Gloria Gonzales (Robin Gonzales), Alicia Jackson (Jermane Jackson) and Herman Dominguez (Leticia Villalon-Dominguez) and her 12 grandchildren Lavonne Dominguez, Robin Gonzales, Lisa Mercado, David Gonzales, Christopher Bachman, Nicole Bachman, Herman Dominguez , Zachary Gonzales, Ashley Bachman, Timothy Gonzales, Maximiliano Dominguez and Donovan Jackson; 2 great-grandchildren, Isabella Tarula-Mercado and Cameron Gonzales; her brothers and sisters through marriage: Hermenejildo Dominguez, Chelo Kirstein (Ken Kerstein), Mary Pollock, Herlinda Lara (Emilio Lara), Elena Romero (Raul Romero), Luciano Dominguez (Chris Dominguez), Humberto Dominguez (Val Dominguez), Celso Dominguez (Minerva Dominguez) and their families and the children of Juana Guerra, Celina Torres, Hortencia Sias, David Dominguez and all her nieces and nephews from her brothers and sisters; her many God-children in Baptism and Communion.

Lydia is a life-long resident of the beautiful Rio Grande Valley. She grew up in San Benito, Texas and graduated from San Benito High School. During her married years she became a Harlingenite. She rooted for the Harlingen Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys and soon after the Harlingen Hawks but always the San Benito Greyhounds, first and foremost. Not a season went by that she didn't get a chance to cheer: "go, go, go!" Because of Lydia all of her children were avid fans of all sports.

Lydia was a woman committed to her community. She was a Cub Scout Leader, a Room Mother, involved in the PTA at James Bowie Elementary back in our childhood days (1960's-1980's). Many will remember her waiting on tables on a Saturday morning at Danny's Restaurant. She worked at MHMR Center on Rangerville Road and Valley Baptist Medical Center for many years and retired from Brownsville Medical Center.

Lydia was a proud woman who finished what she started and graduated from TSTC with an Associates Degree in Health Information Technology at the age of 53.

Lydia was a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She had such a passion for music that she embraced Christian music and sang wherever she went. She was a woman who loved life and loved everyone that she met.

Her services will be as follows:

Mom,

I pray that you will continue to watch over me and Christopher, Nicole and Ashley and Danny, Bobby, Olga, Gloria, Alicia, Herman and their families.

Times have been tough here on earth this past year. I know you would know what to say as we see so much ugliness In humanity. You taught me that its important to uplift each other. I listen to Just a Closer Walk with Thee and One Day at a Time and think often of you reminiscing about the times you sang those songs to me and my kids when we were each little.

I miss you so much. I see a yellow rose and I know you are oh so near.

Rest In Peace Mom...until me meet again

Mom here we are 2 years on this earth after you have gone to your rest. Its not the same. Prayers are my phone calls. I look in the mirror and I see you. I listen to the sound of my voice and I hear you. I give advice to my children and I know that you are at my side ensuring that the advice is on the right path. I pray for continued strength as I breathe every next breath believing that there is still work to do.

I loved you yesterday, I love you today and I will love you until my last day.

Rest In Peace Mom. Until we meet again.
