Luke Condic Obituary

Condic, Luke G. August 19, 1958 - June 12, 2015 Cherished son of the late Mary Aranza Condic (Mombo) and Mark Condic (Otac); dearest brother to Peter (Mila Mila), Susan (Danny), Mark (Lorraine), John (Lena) the late Matthew, Nancy (Howard), Sandy, Maryann (Aron) and Paul; nephew, cousin, and uncle to many; proud godfather of Lauren, Tricia Lynn, Michael Luke, Emily and Amanda Joy; best friend of Russell Fratto and Lino Vega; special friend to many; beloved fiance of Sheila Messer. Luke was a very hardworking, dedicated, deeply passionate person who gave his all in every aspect of his life. He had a smile that could brighten any room and he touched the lives of so many people with whom he came in contact. As soul mate to Sheila over the past 22 years, Luke was the most loving, supportive and caring man. He truly was her knight in shining armor. Through the years Luke had always been Sheila's best friend and biggest fan. There was never a hill too high or a valley too low for the two of them. Sheila will continue to love him now as she always has; more than life itself. Luke was a role model, always encouraging the folks he loved, to be their best, never quit and never settle for less. Luke had many interests, he loved sailboat racing, scuba diving, motorcycling, spending time with Sheila and hanging out with family and friends, and simply enjoying life. Luke had a profound passion for life and if you ever heard him sing, you might think you were hearing the voice of an angel. Luke was blessed with such piercing blue eyes, dimples, and charming good looks, he was frequently mistaken for a celebrity, but then again he was a celebrity to all who knew him. He was, in fact, known by many as the original "Croatian Sensation." Luke had a way of making you feel like you were special; as if you were the only person in the room. You were truly blessed if you were fortunate enough to have him in your life. Luke is deeply loved and admired and will be profoundly missed by many. His beautiful smile and his loving memories will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation Service Friday, June 19th, 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Michael Coletta Sons Funeral Home, 544 West 31st St., Chicago 312-225-8500 www.colettasonsfuneralhome.com. Church Mass Saturday, June 20th, 1:00p.m. at St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church, 2823 South Princeton Ave., Chicago.

Luke, I thought about you today. Five years gone already. I am now 66 years old. Who would have thought, right? I miss the occasional phone call updating me on your life, even tho the calls were only about once every 5 years or so! :-) Miss your crazy antics...do NOT miss your singing (I don't know what everyone's talking about--perhaps your voice got better after 1989?) Have fun in Heaven. See ya soon (but not too soon).

It was rude of me not to give Sheila my condolences. Sheila, I'm feeling your loss and am SO very sorry. The loss has to be devastating to you and the entire family. I do believe that Luke "stopped by" yesterday to tell me he had passed on...why else would I have suddenly and out of the blue been compelled to look him up? It seemed urgent for some reason. I believe in the afterlife, and this just made those beliefs stronger. And if it was him...he's better than OK and is probably scuba diving somewhere in the clouds hunting lobster! See ya in Heaven, Luke.

More photos of Luke when he was younger. I'll add a bunch here. By the way, the one with him and the big fish he did NOT catch, is typical Luke. The one of him on the beach, he had caught a lobster with his bare hands and cooked it right on the beach. THIS is just the Luke we all know. :-)
