Obituary

Lowell A. O'Grady, Sr.Lowell A. O'Grady, Sr. passed away Sunday March 20, 2005 in Sun City West, AZ at the age of 87. He was born December 31, 1917 in Starbuck, MN to Walker O'Grady and Alma Barsness. Lowell and his wife Virginia moved to Arizona in 1984 from Grand Forks, N.D. after retiring as an attorney. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, inducted August 5, 1942 and honorably discharged as Sergeant December 10, 1945. He received his Bachelor of Philosophy and Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota, was a member of the honorary law society Order of Coif, former member of Sun City Saddle Club, former president of the North Dakota Club of the Sun Cities and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Lowell married Virginia in Carmel, California and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2004. Lowell was devoted to the practice of law, his wife and his family. He cherished his strong North Dakota roots and the strong values that they provided which guided his life and those whose lives he touched. He will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife Virginia; two sons, Lowell A. O'Grady, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and James B. O'Grady of Temecula, CA. Sister Evelyn Jermiason of Minot, ND; three grandchildren Julian of Youngtown, AZ, Michael and Kristin both of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Alma, sister LaVerne O' Grady and brother Patrick who died as an infant. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 23, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 19002 N. 128th Ave., Sun City West, AZ. Contributions can be made to the University of North Dakota Alumni Foundation, ""benefit of the law school', P.O. Box 8157 Grand Forks, ND 58202. Graveside Services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND at a later date.
