Turner, Louise 7/5/1949 - 7/7/2016 Traverse City Louise Ann (Terpstra) Turner, of Traverse City, formerly of Grand Rapids, MI entered into eternal life surrounded by loved ones on July 7, 2016. She was 67. Louise was born in Grand Rapids, MI to Robert and Margaret (Brower) Terpstra who preceded her in death. Louise was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 45 years William. Louise was a kind, caring and compassionate woman. She spent many years as a NICU nurse while living in Grand Rapids. She loved being a nurse and formed close bonds with the families of the babies she was caring for. She had an inherently selfless nature about her. Always willing to help others even if it meant sacrificing of herself. Louise enjoyed playing the piano and had the singing voice of an angel. Many people enjoyed listening to Louise sing in the choir at church. Her children always found comfort when walking in the door after school to the sound of mom playing the piano and singing joyfully to the Lord. After Louise lost the ability to work, she filled her time making a home that felt both safe and comfortable for her family. Louise also used her many talents to create beautiful arts and crafts. She found joy in sharing the things that she made with the people that she loved. Louise faced many obstacles in her lifetime. Every one of which she handled with grace, strength and courage. Louise was strong in her faith. She found comfort in the knowledge that she would be free from the earthly suffering and reunited with the loved ones whom had gone before her. Louise is survived by her children Kym (Kari Harris) Taylor, Michelle (James) Brumfield, Mat (Tina) Turner and Jeff (Sahra) Turner. Her siblings; Ken (Ken) Terpstra, Elaine (Don) Brunink, Martha (Tom) Hemily, Doug (Terry) Terpstra and Chuck (Gail) Terpstra. She is also survived by her grandchildren of whom she was so proud of; Amanda, Aleya, Anders, James, Payton, Jalynn, Gage, Jakiah, Ashtyn, Espirt and Lilah as well as her great granddaughter Ellie and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Grand Traverse Pavilions Birch Unit who took such special care of Louise during her time there. Louise's final wish was for family and friends to gather in a Celebration of Life which is going to be held on Friday July 15, 2016 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 3 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior. At the request of Louise and her family we wish for participants to wear something colorful. Kindly share your memories by way of Louise's online guestbook at
