Lorin Olson Obituary

Olson, Dr. Lorin M. 92, Hoxie, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002. Dr. Olson was born on July 11, 1909, in Warren, Minnesota. Dr. Olson was a flight surgeon in WWII, an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, IL, from 1946 to 1979 and a Medical Officer, Disability Evaluation for the Veteran's Administration in Chicago, from 1981 until 1994. Dr. Olson was a graduate a Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota and the Northwestern University School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricia and Gynecologists and a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Olson was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, in 1973, his son, Peter in 1976, and a second wife, Mildred in 2000. Survivors include one son, John and his wife, Brenda of Hoxie, Kansas, two grandsons, Peter and his wife, Amy of Sutton, Nebraska and Matthew and his wife, Barbara of Hays, Kansas. Lorin had two great- grandchildren, Hunter and Connor. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16th, at 10 a.m., at the Hoxie United Methodist Church. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Brainerd, Minnesota.
