Lois Leonard Obituary

To Lois' Family,

I met Lois at your home one year ago when I adopted my third Husky. Even though I had many years of experience with the breed, I knew I was in the presence of a very special person in the form of Lois, and one who was a true friend of our animal companions.

The good Lord has now called her home, no doubt because of His need for her help and compassion with those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge ahead of us.

Know in your heart that she is happy and at perfect peace as she awaits your arrival there one day when all things will be made new...

I was so sorry to hear about Lois. She was truly a remarkable woman and will be missed by many. May time heal the emptiness that you now have.

Lois was an amazing woman, with a zest for life, and for everything she believed in. The dogs that she trained, loved, saved, and adopted will be waiting for her at "The Bridge", as all other dogs will be laying roses at her feet, and taking bows as she walks across.

You will be missed!!!!!

Dear Debbie, Carol & Tracy, Your former neighbors of Ferndale Ave. HP extend  sincere thoughts to your family at this very sad time.  We still remember the "good times" w/ your Mother and our family including  Morgan and our dog Candy.

I was at a ballgame when I got the call that changed everything in a moment. All of a sudden that game seemed very unimportant. Lois was an inspiration to all of us who love the Siberian breed and the savior of so many Siberians.

She will never be forgotten and Adopt A Husky will forever be her legacy.

Bill and family, my heartfelt condolences go out to all of you. I know that Lois is having a ball with all the Siberians beyond the Bridge

I had the pleasure of meeting Lois many years ago at work before she retired. Each year I look forward to seeing her at the Husky Hike. This will be a very sad year. Lois was a wonderful, giving person. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and the huskies she left behind.

On Behalf of Western Great Lakes Akita Rescue I would like to extend our deepest and sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Lois. I had the privledge of talking to her at pet expos. Lois left an indelible mark on the rescue community and her experience will be missed.

When I heard the news I was very heartbrooken she was a great person and friend. She will be greatly missed we all loved her. Have a great journey to the gates. All the fourleggeds will be waitting with wagging tails and happey kiss for you . R.I.P we will miss you greatly.

Yes, Lois devoted the past 10 years to Siberian Husky Rescue, with determination and compassion and energy that seemed unstoppable. Her efforts helped to save hundreds of abandoned Siberians, finding new "forever" homes for them, with tough love and determination, and the ability to get a lot of other good people working with her in AAHI.
But let's not forget there was more to Lois than Rescue. She was an inspiration to countless Siberian owners who were working their dogs in obedience, back in the days when she won every Obedience title then available on her beloved Sula. Lois served a term on the Board of the SHCA, she co-chaired the 1989 SHCA National Specialty in Oconomowoc WI, she competed in the breed ring, and with Bill, on the trails. She was a special friend, and an inspiration. Prayers to Bill and the rest of your family in these very difficult days.

Bill and Family, My deepest sympathies to each of you. Lois was indeed an exceptional woman. She did God's work. After all, God is Dog spelled backwards.

I only knew her for a short time. She was a very dynamic woman who will be missed. My sympathy to her family.

The rescue world will not be the same. My thoughts and prayers for the entire family.
I didn't know Lois well but in the few times I spoke with her, she had an amazing energy, love of life and an unbridled passion for dogs.
You will be sadly missed.

Lois was one of the most hardworking people I've met. She was completely dedicated to her dogs and her rescue. She will be greatly missed.

Godspeed dear Lois. You helped our family become better people and we hope to pass this along to other people as well as you did. Give hugs to my Sibes at the bridge and thank you for everything.

We can not even begin to express our sadness but we know that her work will live on and she will be guiding all of us from above. She was a very special person and we were blessed to have known her and shared hugs. Rest in peace dear friend, until we all meet again.

My prayers are with Lois's family. She was a special person that encouraged me with showing my Siberians in obedience. We met again as we both were involved with rescue. The world is a smaller, sadder place without her. I am sure that Lois is sitting with Sula right now & that they crossed the bridge together.

Our hearts go out to Lois' family. Lois was an amazing lady and a Siberian's heroine. Thanks to her efforts, the lives of many dogs were saved. It was an honor to have been able to work with her.

Thank you for all the furry souls you've saved.

Lois will be missed by the entire rescue community. You could always count on Lois. She was always there with an answer or idea. Her death is a great loss to many. My deepest condolences to her family.

Lois was an amazing woman that I am honored to have known. She greeted each dog that she met with the same enthusiasm no matter the breed, but held a special spot in her heart for the hard luck cases. She supported me in my reptile rescue so many times over the years, and I can not imagine a world with out her. She definitely touch the world with her life. My heart is with her family at this time. I am glad she never stopped a single day from doing what she loved.

May she care for our rescues at the rainbow bridge until the time that we are there to collect our own.

What a wonderful woman! Lois was kind enough to spend Thursday (4/17) volunteering at Oak Lawn Community High School sharing her knowledge with hundreds of high schools students. She was a class-act through and through and it goes without saying she will be greatly missed. Her legacy is the lives she touched--both human and canine.

Lois will be missed by the many folks she did rescue with. She was always there to lend a helping hand . My deepest condolence to her family and her rescue family.

Losing Lois is a huge blow to the rescue community. I know she is at the rainbow Bridge being greeting with more wet slobbery kisses than she could ever imagine. She has touched so many lives, and will be missed by all. My condolences to her family, with fur, and without.

I could always rely on Lois for guidance. She will be missed.

Lois and Bill were my mentors into the wonderful world of pure bred Sled Dogs. That will always be a part of my life that I will cherish. Thank you for your friendship and encouragement. Gee Haw, Love Dave Schultz

Lois lived a life that she loved and how many of us can say that? She was very lucky in that sense. My heart goes out to her entire family especially her children because losing a mother is heartbreaking.
