My heart was heavy when I learned that Mr. Stanard had passed away. To his family, I offer my sincere condolences. I was thinking what a terrible world it is, where a wonderful person like L.D., ever a gentleman; always a quick smile; has to be taken from us. In fact, it is a wonderful world, where one can meet and come to know such a person as he. I am grateful and proud to have known him. I deeply regret not being able to attend his funeral.

I've known Mr. Stanard for over 40 years. I remember him driving me and Colleen everywhere - to the community pool, the movies, the mall. He took me on my first ski trip up the mountain on my first ski lift and stayed beside me all the way down. He even picked me up when I ran into that fence that stopped my downhill slide. And with all the mischief we got into, Mr. and Mrs. S never told my parents. I'll always thank you for that and all the good times. I'll look for you in heaven when I get there. Love, Kim

My dad: One of the most honest and hardest working men I've ever known. Truly the best father a daughter could ever want. A loving man with a huge heart who has given so much to his family and has asked for so little in return. His smile and teasing sense of humor, unbeatable. His love and commitment to mom, unprecedented. A man with such integrity tough to find. Dad, I love you, and you'll be in my heart always.
Your Loving Daughter,
Colleen

It's hard to see someone you love die piece by piece in front of you.
What's harder is knowing they're dying and there's nothing you can do, not even spend every second you have with them. You want to drop everything and run to his side and never leave, but that's about 400 miles away. So you end up just sitting around, worrying about him and how many days he has left to live.
Then the phone rings, papa has passed away. I could'nt believe my ears. "not yet" i thought to myself. My heart sunk, and my eyes teared. I halfway expected the world to stop, if just for a little while-to mourn with me...But it did'nt. The birds kept singing, the radio kept playing, people kept coming and going. I felt like screaming to the world "STOP!" Can't you just stop for a minute. It was a feeling of hopelessness and despair, a feeling all of us have right now.
I want to say that we are saying goodbye to papa today. But yet if we look around, so much of him still remains. For his children and grandchildren, a part of him still lives in you. There is a part of him who still lives in me, and a part of him that still lives on, and carrying his name forever my son Nolan Logan Stanard. And when the oppertunity arises, and my children can understand, they will know all about their great grandpa.....People always talk about leaving behind a legacy. Mama, look around you you are surrounded by your and papa's legacy. Personally i think you and he did a graet job. Papa is not only survived in his life by you and by us, but he lives on in you and in us.
I Love You, and miss you Papa.
