Bailey, Lillian Mother of Rev. Harold E. Bailey, dies at 97. A pre-past will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with services to follow, at the Leak & Sons Funeral Home, 7838 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, for Mrs. Lillian Bailey, the mother of Rev. Harold E. Bailey, who passed Friday, August 31, 2012, 10:17 p.m. at her south side home while embraced in the arms of her son. She was 97-years-old. Lillian was one of the first African-American precinct captains in Chicago and worked with such persons as the late Alderman Michael Sneed, Congressman Ralph Metcalf and Mayor Harold Washington. She was considered by many as their adopted mother. She worked at the County Superior Courts, Circuit Courts and with the Probation Challenge program with her son, Harold. She leaves to mourn sons, Rev. A.J. Bailey, Jr., Rev. Harold E. Bailey and Ronald Bailey. Also are a host of in-laws, Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. She was well respected by the late Justice R. Eugene Pincham, William Cousins, Jr. who visited her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Leak & Sons Funeral Home, 7838 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Chicago, IL. Burial will be held at the Restvale Cemetery.
