Here it is almost 2023 and I still think of Leo often. Even when I'm not at the track. I'm still in the horseracing business thanks to him. He was such a kind and gentle soul and I miss him and think of him often. Thanks for the memories Leo. Your partner and friend, Bob Fattore

What an I say? I miss Leo as much as I did when he passed away. I think of those days at Armando's on Superior & Rush and miss them terribly. That's were he got me started in the horseracing business and I'm still doing it. Everytime I go to the track I can just picture him going through the program picking his winners for the day LOL. He was such a great friend and I think of him often. Kind, gentle, big heart, are a few words to describe him, but there are many more words to describe such a great person. May God bless him and keep him in the palm of his hand.

I met Leo at La Fitness, our conversations were endless. We talked about everything from his card games with his friends to caring for his mom, her fall, her recovery to Armando' s and his health to the stories of his business partner who could fix any and everything. We walked and walked the pool on tuesdays and thursdays. I will miss him deeply. He was a wonderful person and I was blessed that our paths crossed. My condolences to his family, my last conversation with him was on Nov. 16th, he was going spend sime time at.his place in Antioch and looking forward to Thanksgiving. RIP my friend I will miss you very much. Linda

I echo Bob Fattore's observations on Leo, supplemented by the following. I first met Leo and Peg at their stint at Armando's at the Mart. My charge, and that of my fellow Amreco people was to assure that the bar was properly populated at lunch. From 1995-2005 it was a pleasure to hear Leo's history as a restaurateur in Chicago--back to early days with the Italian Village. As Bob says, difficult to find a kinder gentler jovial man--"Hail fellow well met!" Whenever I heard someone tell Leo of a third persons egregious action, rather than say anything negative--he would always just look downward, with a slight smile and slowly shake his head in slight disbelief--but, never expressing a castigating comment. Certainly Leo was a follower of; "Judge not, lest yea be judged!"
Leo, hope the horses run better at the "new track". Your Friend Dick Bakka and each of the Amreco People.

A fond farewell to a kind and gentle man. I've known "Nello" since his days at Armando's La Stanza on Rush. We ate lunch their almost every day. I feel really bad for his loss. His family and his friends, myself included, shall miss him always. May God Bless and keep him. May his memory be eternal.

Leo has always been "Nello" to me, starting when he owned Armando's Restaurant on Superior & Rush, and than to the Merchandise Mart. He got me started with owning horses back in 1995, and we've been doing it ever since. I named a current horse we own "Armando's Star" where it al got started. I'm going to miss him tremendously. He was such a great guy with a very big heart. I enjoyed being around him, talking to him on the phone about the horses, and being at the track with him when the horses ran. I will remember him in my prayers, and will never forget him. May he rest in peace, he was a good man.
