I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and good friends of my very dear friend,Lenny Pape.I was so saddened to recently learn of his death when the executors of his estate notified me after receiving my annual Christmas card.Although I had not seen Len for a few years we faithfully have exchanged cards since we met as a blind date in either 1966 or 67.We became good friends right away because when he came to my home I felt immediately safe and comfortable with him.He was so friendly and had a warm and silly sense of humor and always had some unique idea for an invention of a gadget or clothes style or anything else. He loved boating and I spent many a Sunday boating with him and sometimes friends, cooking out or going to a pub on the lake. Len always was a gentleman and always paid me so many compliments, which I know were sincere. He played a clarinet beautifully, sometimes while we were boating. When I was living in Kobenhagen,Denmark he came to visit twice. He had bought his house during that time and was so excited about that.Len had visited Sweden,I believe, and always appreciated the beautiful Swedish women! I never knew why Cupid never shot an arrow my way,as he did Len's,as Len proposed to me the summer I was returning to Europe.I was a free spirit then as I am now and I had to tell him not to wait for me. Upon my return we continued a warm friendship and I last saw him at my current address a few years ago and have several pictures of the occasion, taken in my backyard.Len was a terrific shutterbug and an avid skier for years.I hope and pray his passing was peaceful-perhaps he gave me a thought at some point-he deserved every kindness. My prayers and thoughts have been with him these days.God Bless him always.Anne Klosinski

I knew a Leonard Pape from St. Mel
sSchool in Chicago. I graduated fromn there in l952. We were in the band together. Len was always a good friend who also had a good sense of humor. He called me several years ago and was living inDes Pllaines. I was sorry to read of his passing and that I didn't have the change to get together with him. Prayers are with him.
