Dr. Hendricks, you are gone from this existence, but your memory will linger forever can in every portal of my mind. I thank you for crossing the path of my life at Chicago State University. I thank you for permitting me partake of the special bond you shared with everyone. I thank you for agreeing to delay your second retirement at my request so you could assist me in transition to my new position as Dean of the College of Education at CSU. I send a posthumous thanks to Mrs. Hendricks for agreeing to permit you to delay your retirement. My greatest regret was that geographical divides prevented me from personally saying a final "so long" to you. May you rest in peace forever in the loving care of the Great Creator. With everlasting love and appreciation and condolences to your family.

I was privileged to have Leon as my first principal at Sacred Heart Englewood for my first year teaching. He had a gift of challenging me to go beyond what I thought I could do and I truly appreciated it. He will surely be missed.

My heartfelt condolences to Lynette, Leon J., Chris, Nataleen, Douglas and all of my Hendricks-Verrett cousins! Dr. Leon Hendricks was a pillar of quiet, dependable strength for our family. He was a thoughtful, intelligent and accomplished man who would do anything to help the MANY members of his extended family. May God bless and comfort you all. Love, Rachel

Thank you to everyone who has shared your wonderful memories of my father. He loved his family but he also loved sharing his gift of knowledge with the world. God gave me the greatest gift in bringing me into the world to two of the most loving people I will ever know. I love them both forever!

HE that has the PURSE has the POWER! This phrase was coined by Dr. Leon Hendricks from 2 Financial Management Courses. You know you are a GREAT professor when you can teach educators how to carefully plan a budget in order to obtain high-quality personnel and resources to create the building blocks for a successful school. Learning of his passing today brought upon tears and disbelief. To Dr. Hendricks' family and friends, you are in my prayers and please know that he was highly favored among his students. God bless you during your time of bereavement!

Leon was a wonderful colleague. He was the department sage, all knowing, all experiencing. Generous with his knowledge and expertise, he helped anyone who asked. What will be most remembered is his grace. His grace set him apart from the other faculty. We missed him when he retired, but we knew that if we needed his feedback, he'd be there for us. Now, as Leon educates the children in heaven, we will need to get on our knees for his help.

I loved his infectious smile after he asked a question because he
Loved watching his students think while searching their minds for an answer. He loved people; he loved teaching; he loved life. He was greatly missed when he retired. He will be missed even more now that he is gone to a better place. Praise God for his life, and I thank his family for sharing him with us all. He is one of those rare persons who discovered his gift and dared not to hide it under a rock. Goodbye Professor Hendricks. You deserve to be with our Lord and our God. Hallelujah!!!
