To the Smith Family-

I worked at the Park Ridge Library for about 10 years from 1987-1996, and I always looked forward to Leo's visits. He usually had a companion with him, a young man who was from a group home in Evanston, I believe. Leo was so lovely with that young man as he took the time to help him look at books and other information at the library. Leo loved his family so much and shared with great pride about his wife and children. I am glad to have known him. Sending my sympathy to each of you-

Leo,

Sorry to hear you lost your dad. I wish I had heard in time to attend the wake.

He was a very nice man (maybe too nice, considering all of the things you and I and Kitch got away with!). He'll be missed.

Dear Smith Family,

I have wonderful memories of visiting your home as a child (often with my brother John, friend of Leo). Your home was always warm and welcoming and comfortable. Even at an early age, the Smith children exhibited the intelligence, grace and wit of their parents! Reading about Mr. Smith I recalled working as a "Mikva Messenger" alongside the family and friends. Not to mention tandem rides and playing with Ginger the collie. My condolences to all of you, I hope that at this time of loss your hearts are warmed by fond memories of the past.

Sincerely,

Lisa Sopata Brogan

Mr Smith was such a kind and gentle man. Memories of growing up with Maureen always puts a smile on my face. I can still picture him starting the station wagon with his left hand. Maureen, you and your family are in my prayers.

God Bless,

Maria

Dear Mrs. Smith, Maureen & Family,

I LOVED your dad! He was one of the sweetest, gentlest men I have ever known. I have so many fond memories of growing up and him being a presence in all our lives. As the obituary said -- that laugh! But it was also the smile and the eyes that went with it. And, Maureen, I'll never forget all the times he told me...Maureen is in the bath. My love to you all. M.E.

Dear Cousins,

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of dear Leo. I remember a kind and gentle man with a warm smile. It was wonderful seeing him (and Rita) couple years ago when my sister and I were in Chicago. I know he will be missed.

My own parents (Joe and Bridget Gleason) were very fond of him as well.

Now, it is time for him to enjoy his heavenly reward. Blessings, Peace and Love to all of you.

Your cousins,

Patricia (Gleason), Dan, Eileen and Tierney Heilman
