Memorial services for Lee R. Wilson, 80, of Noble, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4401 McGuire Rd., Noble, Okla.He died May 22, 2008 in Norman, after a long battle with cancer.Lee was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Rose, Kansas, to Alfred Ethan and Dorothy M. Cox Wilson. He retired in December 1989 from Allstate Insurance Company after marking 29 years as an agent in McAlester, Okla.Lee was a lover of the outdoors. He spent many hours in his garden and the produce was enjoyed by many. He was an avid scout with the Boy Scouts of America and held many positions in the Oklahoma District of the Indian Nation's council. He was awarded both the district award of merit and in 1983 the Silver Beaver Award.As a long time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served willingly and faithfully in the responsibilities given him. Among which was ward clerk, branch president, bishop, High Council and was called as Patriarch of the Fort Smith, Arkansas State.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna McCuller Wilson, and his five children; Frank Alfred Wilson and wife Billie Hanson of Willard, Utah, Lee Roy Wilson and wife Valerie Lynes, of Aiken, S.C.; Rachel Elizabeth Weedn, Benjamin Andrew Wilson, and William Daniel Wilson of Norman, Okla.; with 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Those welcoming him beyond the veil include his parents, Alfred and Dorothy Wilson, son-in-law James Dale Weedn, granddaughter Carrie Elizabeth Weedn and grandson Max Wilson.His was a life of love and service to everyone and he will be sorely missed.Mr. Wilson will be lying in state at his daughters home, 2416 Hamden Ave, Norman, Okla. Visitors are welcome to come by between noon and 8 p.m., today or Monday.Submitted by family
