Larry was a good friend back in the seventies and early eighties at Harlan HS. He was an awesome person and teacher. Later, I used to run into him at the TP Post Office and also at Bogart's in TP. Rest in PEACE, old buddy.

Dad was always an Instigator ... lol

A beautiful soul has exited Earth's stage to a standing ovation, bursting with love.
Larry and I were classmates from fourth grade through high school. Our high school was a CPS racial integration experiment--and it succeeded spectacularly. Larry was one of the many reasons it did so well. His twinkling eyes and broad smile made him one of the most universally loved students. A classmate reminded our Facebook group that in addition to being voted the “most popular” Larry also was voted “best personality” by our senior class. AND he was our class secretary. As the jingle goes, "Nobody didn't love Larry" because for Larry, everyone--black or white--was family.
We scattered to different colleges after high school, and most of us lost touch. I didn't see Larry again until four years ago, when he joined our 50th class reunion committee. I can still hear the squeals when committee members entered the room and saw him. He greeted them with that trademark smile and a big hug. He was still Larry: as comfortable being the only white classmate on our committee as he was being a member of the minority population at Harlan High.
Christine, we know you will miss Larry's physical presence, as will we. But I believe that the soul who came here to be our beloved friend Larry was, and will continue to be, a shining light. I also believe that life is eternal, even though bodies aren't, and the immortal soul we recognized over here as Larry is still loving you, your girls, and your entire family.
God bless you!
