Luke, I dont know if you will get this note as I just found out about your fathers death. We were good friends while at Marist HS, playing basketball and intramurals together. He was quite a character in a good sense and could really do amazing things with the basketball. We traveled to school together during senior year as his dad would drive him to my house in Evergreen Park and my parents would drive the remaining way. He was a very kind soul. Unfortunately, we lost touch during college days and I didnt hear from him too often. I would love to hear about his life after college from you if you get a chance to email me. I am sorry to hear about his passing.

Luke, We are so sorry for your loss. Your dad and our brother Kevin were best friends and quite a team. There wasn't a time when our families got together where "Sweens" didn't have a story to relay about Omar. What a great father and what a great friend. Know that you were loved and cherished by a good man. Our prayers are with you. God bless you and keep you in his care. Mona and Jimmy Sweeney

To Luke and the Owens family,
We met Kevin in college and were honored to call him our friend. He will always have a special place in our hearts. Omar was truly one of a kind - big smile, big heart, amazing sense of humor. Our thoughts are with you.

To the Owens family,
I met Kevin when his brother Al and a group of us from C.V.S would venture down to Champaign in the fall for an Illini game. Those were fun times. I'm sorry for yet another loss. With my deepest sympathy, Frank McCarthy

Luke. Your dad was one of a kind. He was the first friend I made in college. We played ball, shared houses, traveled and in a sense "grew up" together. As we talked over the past year he really wanted you to be strong and take your place in the world. I am so sorry for your loss. Like many others, I loved your dad and will miss his smile and humanity.

Luke, I loved your dad, he was very special to me, I considered myself lucky to be part of his life in whatever way I had the chance, you are welcome in my home, and I hope you will always consider me family, as I do you....
You were Kevins pride, the reason for everything he did, and he will always be with you and all the people whos lives he touched...he made me smile. Be strong, and reach out when you need us.

Hi Luke, I never met you, but heard all about you from your Dad. As the other messages have said over and over, he was really proud of you. Your Dad had a great sense of humor and a wonderful, broad smile. He was never mean to anyone, that I can recall from our years in Champaign, and later in Chicago. I'm so sorry I couldn't come in, but hope to meet you someday through Chip. Your Dad taught us all alot about living. I hope that with time, his lessons as a parent will prove meaningful and comforting to you as you grow into manhood.

Luke,
I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you. Omar and I had many fun times together; basketball, baseball, day games at Wrigley Field, the Derby and a month long camping trip to Florida in 1977 just to name a few. Those times pale in comparison to the special time he spent with you, but I wanted to let you know he was a special person in my life and I will miss him.

Luke, I have fond memories of Omar father from years ago as always the caring, funny guy. He loved you so. He was a dear friend to many as exempified by his dedicated loving friends like Pam and Kevin, Chip, Sue Ellen and Doug, Steve and Cindy Bosy, and so many others who cared for him. He was special and his memory and spirit will live on through you. May God bless you and guide you with wisdom and strength.
