Kathryn Gottschalk Obituary

Gottschalk, Kathryn Quan of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Wesley Acres after a long battle with Alzheimers. Kathryn was born to James and Mary Ellen Coyne Quan on December 31, 1914 in Chicago, where she grew up and lived during the early years of her marriage to Jerome Gottschalk. In 1952, she moved with her family to Ohio, living first in Fremont and then Findlay. She was employed as a psychiatric social worker by the State of Ohio. Upon retirement, she moved to Aiken, South Carolina. She came to Des Moines in the spring of 2001. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by two children, Hugh Gottschalk of Denver, CO, and Mary Gottschalk of Des Moines; and two granddaughters, Katie and Jenni. At Kathryn's request, there will be no service. She will be buried at a private ceremony by her family in Fremont, OH in January. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Kathryn and my mother attended college together many, many years ago. Mother rememebered her from those days and said that she was a " good, good friend." We will pray for Kathryn and her family.
