Mrs. George is one of the people responsible for making me who I am today, and I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing.
A terrific teaching with a caring spirit and an eye for the good in each of her pupils -- no matter how well concealed -- Mrs. George believed in me and, in turn, made me believe in myself in ways I had not previously. The gifts she passed along to me are incredible enough; she continued, all these many years later, to ask my mother how I was doing when their paths would cross. Her care and concern for her students didn't end when she turned in the final grades at the end of the school year, and I can say that the lessons she imparted affect and guide me to this day.
It's Katy's kind of compassion for life, learning and teaching that the world needs more of. Through her life and deeds, she has left us a map we can all use -- in large and small ways -- to continue to reach out to people and make the world a better place.

Sorry to hear of Katy's passing. She made me feel welcomed when I arrived on MPA's Campus 30 years ago. She made me feel welcomed when I bought my home on Hoyne and 101st St. in 1997. She was a true Lady from Beverly.

Mrs. George was my sixth grade teacher at MPA. She had also taught my husband, Bill, a couple of years before me. We both remember her fondly and wish to express to her family how sorry we are for their loss. She was a very dedicated and excellent teacher.

Tammy and I are so sorry to hear of Katy's passing. We lived next door to her for several years before she moved and she was a wonderful neighbor. She loved to watch the kids play in the yard. We will keep her in our prayers. Tim and Tammy Stanton...Children Ryan, Jack, Kaleigh and Joey
