Karma Nelson Obituary

LOGAN - Karma Schaub Nelson passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. She was 80 years old.
She was born April 14, 1929, to G. Wesley and Ida K. Schaub in Morgan, Utah. She was raised in Logan, the oldest of three daughters: Karen Schaub (deceased); and Barbara (Babs) Pingree (Hal). Karma graduated from Logan High School and received her bachelor's degree from Utah State University later in life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith J. Nelson, in September 2007. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on Aug. 11, 1949. Keith's career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force gave them the opportunity to live in many different areas of the world. They have four children: Kristine N. Faunce; Karen N. (Todd) McKinnon; Kim N. (Mick) Kohler; and Keith J. (Joni) Nelson. They have 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Karma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities for the church throughout her life. She is mostly known for her musical contributions. She sang in the dedicatory choir for the opening of the Oakland, Calif., LDS temple and also served as a temple worker for four years in the Logan LDS Temple. She and her husband served at the BYU Jerusalem Center in Israel in the early '90s.
She enjoyed being actively involved no matter where they lived. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Clerisy Club, the National Music Guild and the American Cancer Society. She taught private piano lessons, enjoyed writing poetry and was a loving wife, mother and Nana. She will be missed dearly and we celebrate with her as she enjoys her heavenly reunion.
The family would like to thank the faculty and staff at the Legacy House for the loving care of Nana during the last few months of her life.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at 12 p.m. in the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward, 1260 N. 1600 East. There will be a viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., and at the church Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Dear Nelsons,Schaubs, Tuellers

I'm sorry for Keith and his beautiful sisters about the passing of their Mother, and also their father in the recent past. I know my mother Margene Bertelson Baugh was a good friend of the Schaubs and my father a friend and teammate of Keith at Logan High. Karma and Babbs were always on my mothers mind when they visited Ida who lived just across the canal on 5th North away. Ties are strong also with the Tuellers whom we love and Keith Jr, with sports and following Riley and his upcoming brothers! God bless all of you.

Dear KJ, Kim, Karen and Kris,

I haven't seen your family in a long time but I have tried to keep up with you all through my parents. I'm sad to hear about your mothers passing but glad she is now with your dad. Your family made a big impression on me as I was growing up. Your parents were some of the greatest people I have known. Sincerely,
Scott Angelos
