Karen Lennox Obituary
Karen June Lennox, age 89 of Conyers, GA, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Douglas Lennox; parents, Lawrence and Carrie Petersen; children, Carrie Gajda, Douglas Lennox, and Lisa Lennox. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David Lennox and Patty Pruden-Lennox; grandchildren, Molly (Matt) Perry, Katie Nicoli, Nikki (Justin) Bartlett, and Josh Lennox; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Max Perry and Wyatt Nicoli; siblings, Mary Court and Larry (Pat) Petersen; and several nieces and nephews.
Karen was born on June 21, 1935, in Chicago, IL to Lawrence Jessen Petersen and Carrie Margaret Petersen. In 1952, Karen married her husband of 58 years, Gerald Douglas Lennox; together they had four children. Karen fostered 14 children, helping to create a safe and loving environment for them in addition to her own four. Karen worked at Valley Mental Health Care for 4 years, where she provided support and care to those in need. In addition, she was also an active member in her church congregations in both Georgia and Illinois.
Karen was an avid golfer at the Honey Creek Golf Club and enjoyed entertaining her friends and family. She loved to have fun and loved her church, family and friends very much. She was not afraid of death - but looked forward to seeing those who preceded her. Karen will be remembered for her strength, confidence, feistiness, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Epiphany Lutheran Church with a light lunch to follow. Pastor David Armstrong-Reiner will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at the River Valley Memorial Gardens in West Dundee, Il on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11am, followed by lunch. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Epiphany Lutheran Church in Conyers, Ga. Condolences may be submitted online at www.scotward.com.
