Lyons, Kathryn Ruth

Kathryn (Kay) Ruth Lyons, née George of Orland Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 27, 2025. She is survived by her children with Thomas Lyons: Kathryn (Terry) Brock, Patricia (Steve) Armbruster, Thomas (Amy) Lyons, and Sarah (Jeffrey) Koseck. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, John.

Kay was a fashionable and proud grandmother who adored her grandchildren Molly and Jane Brock; Charlie, Joey, and Steven Armbruster; Delaney, Riley (Thomas), Quinn, June, and Flannery Lyons; and Scarlett and Finn Koseck.

Born in Chicago, IL on December 16, 1944, Kay was the daughter of John Wendell George and Kathryn Jane Oldacre. She is survived by her dear siblings Thomas (Laurie) George and Jane George. She was a cherished aunt and friend of many.

Kay was an ace tennis player, an admittedly terrible cook, and an accomplished artist who loved to paint and design home and garden décor. She was the proud president of a wallpaper hanging business, Pretty Papers of Palos.

Kay will be laid to rest at the Oldacre Family plot at Mt. Greenwood Cemetery in Chicago, IL. Internment is private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Parkinson's Foundation.
