Karen Hampton Obituary

Karen Ann (Tyler) Hampton, 66, Anderson, passed away May 28, 2006 at St. John’s Medical Center after an extended illness.

She was born February 1, 1940 in Frankton and lived most of her life in Anderson. She was a church organist at Bethany Christian Church and then Church of the Brethren. She also played the organ for local funeral homes.

She attended North Anderson Church of God.

She is survived by four children, Cindy Sue Voyles and husband Harry E., III of Fishers, David R. Jack and wife Charlotte, Terrance M. Tyler and Greg A. Tyler, all of Anderson; four grandchildren, Joshua D. Jack, Steve G. Tyler, Andrew Harrison Voyles and Lauren Alexandra Voyles; three sisters, Patricia Songer and Sandra Lomax, both of Albuquerque, NM, and Sally Baker of Salt Lake City, UT; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Judy Carver and Diane Lowery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruth Brannon; grandchildren, Christopher Voyles and Casey Danielle Voyles; nephew, Jeff Songer; and brother-in-law, Commander Jack Songer.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Rogers. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
