Julian Arnold Obituary

Capt. Julian (Jay) Arnold, Jr. - CLAXTON - Capt. Julian (Jay) Arnold, Jr., USN, Ret., 88, died April 11, 2009, at his residence in Evans County. The Fulton County native had lived in Evans County for the past 20 years. He was a 1943 graduate of the Naval Academy, and served 24 years in the Navy as a fighter pilot. After his naval service he worked at Lockheed/Marietta where he retired in 1987 and moved to Evans County in 1989. He was preceded in death by his son, Bob Arnold. Survivors: his wife, Dorothy B. Arnold of Claxton; one son, Jim Arnold of Claxton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Jack Daniel of Surrency and Carol Ann and Dennis Fischer of Claxton; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Tuesday, April 14, 6-8:00 p.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home. Funeral: Wednesday, April 15, 11:00 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Glennville Memorial Gardens.
