Joyce Malpass Obituary

ROCKY POINT, N.C. - Joyce Branch Malpass of Rocky Point died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead, N.C. She was born in New Hanover County, N.C., on July 28, 1930, the daughter of the late Leroy Branch and Beatrice Mintz Branch. Mrs. Malpass had been a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Newport News; a charter member of Carrollton Baptist Church, Carrollton; and a member of WMU, the Women's Missionary Union. Surviving are her husband, George F. Malpass of the home; four children, George F. Malpass Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Roanoke, Jerry W. Malpass and his wife, Lisa, of Newport News, David L. Malpass and his wife, Rita, of Yorktown and Joyce Elaine Mitchell and her husband, Doug, of Seaford; seven grandchildren, Derek Malpass, Justin Malpass, Christopher Malpass, Timmy Mitchell, Allyson Mitchell, Carter-Gage Malpass and Rebecca Mitchell; a sister, Janet Davis and her husband, R.J., of Wilmington, N.C.; and two brothers, Roy C. Branch and his wife, Inga, and Donald Branch and his wife, Carol, all of Wilmington. A funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1004 Yorktown Road, Yorktown. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton. Mrs. Malpass will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Arrangements by Andrews Mortuary, Wilmington.

Mrs. Malpass was my sister's mother-in-law. She was a special woman and will be missed. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
