I am fortunate enough to have known Josh throughout high school at Marist and college at U of I. We shared many classes together and even had the same circle of friends. He was one of the nicest, sincerest and most genuine people I have ever come across. He knew how to smile and make other people smile no matter what the situation. I'm extremely saddened to hear this news. Josh will be remembered forever. My thoughts are with the entire Guyette family at this time.

My deepest condolences to your family. I was very fortunate to meet Joshua on the interview trail in Colorado. He went out of his way to get to know me and make me feel comfortable during the day. He had recently interviewed in Hawaii and I had yet to... he didn't hesitate to reassure and encourage me. I’ll never forget that he smiled when he told me I had some pleasant surprises in store for me in Hawaii, but he didn’t want to ruin them by letting me know just then. He was very insightful and friendly. It's heartbreaking for me to imagine that the many patients he had been preparing to serve for so long will never know him, but I believe his memory and legacy will forever inspire and deeply motivate those of us who did.

Dear Guyette Family,
Josh and I met during our first year of medical school and he quickly became one of my dearest friends. Not only was he caring, compassionate, and empathetic, but he also had a great sense of humor. My boyfriend, Bryan, and I seemed to do everything with Josh. We joked that he was our "Dupree". Over the years he also got to know my family and they adored him.
I feel honored to have had such a wonderful person in my life and I will cherish the memories of the time we spent together. He was truly a "forever" friend and I cannot put into words how much I will and already do miss him.
I am truly sorry for your loss. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing how many lives he touched and how many people loved him. You raised a truly amazing son and he will be forever in my heart.

I graduated with Josh at marist in 2001. although we never really hung out outside of school or after we graduated, he was always kind and easy to talk to when i sat near him in the classes we had together. the story that sticks out for me is we needed an extra player for our basketball intramural team one day or we would have to forfeit. my friend Chris and I drove home, thinking there was no one else we could ask. on our way, we saw josh cutting his grass and figured we'd ask if he wanted to play, not expecting a yes. to our surprise, josh said yes and stopped what he was doing to play for our team. i do not remember if we won or lost, that doesn't matter. what matters is the heart, character, and unselfishness he displayed that day, something that i remember nearly 10 years later. my thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends. he will be missed greatly.

Josh,
Your parents, brothers and sister are all in my thoughts at this very moment. I spent so much time with you at St. Linus, Marist High School, and Beverly Country Club. Even though we have not talked in quite some time, know that I am very saddend of your loss. You were such an amazing person that had a positive impact on the lives of so many people. Know that I will never forget you. Lots of your fellow classmates from Linus have been reminiscing about you these past few days. I certainly can tell you brought much cheer and many smiles to their lives. Rest in peace my friend. Your family will continue to be in my prayers.
