JOSEPH WICHERT Obituary

Wichert, Jr., Joseph Lawrence Age 85, late of Hegewisch, IL passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Grace Wichert (nee O'Brien); loving father of Larry (Cindy) Wichert, Jim (Mary Ellen) Wichert, Patti Ann (Mike) Ward, Lynn Marie (Tim) Conneen and Bill Wichert. Proud grandfather of Mike, Jessica, Erin, Lindsay, Kim, Pam, Jill, Matt, Patrick, Jennifer (Patrick) Sanders and Randy (Kelly) Hough; cherished great-grandfather of Patrick (Lindsey), Haley and Megan; kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph, Sr. and Lottie Wichert. Joseph proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from International Harvester and was a proud member of the Hegewisch Community Committee, Hegewisch Chamber of Commerce, St. Florian Holy Name Society, Avalon Trails Improvement Association, Hegewisch Babe Ruth League, Boy Scout Troop 707 Leader and Just For Fun Ukulele Strummers. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. at Opyt Funeral Home, 13350 S. Baltimore Ave., Chicago, IL 60633 to St. Florian Church for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Interment private.
