Dear Julie,I just found out a few days ago that Joe had passed & am completely blown away by this news.We played ball together at Riis & Rodgers Pk.& he was one of my favorite guys that I met at that time in my life!He was always smiling & always had a positve attitude.I met you at your house in Arlington Hts.& remember how happy Bird was that he met someone to share his life with & have a family.My thoughts & prayers go out to you & your family.

Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you as your birthday is coming up. I will never forget you Bird, you are and always will be the friend that I will think of first when I think about the old days, just being a kid and playing baseball was all that we cared about. Sun up to sun down we had a baseball in our sprocket, a mitt on our handle bars, always in search of the next game. Later at night head back to your house to play pool and poker and laugh about the day we just had. You grew up to be a very good man, you have a beautiful family and a dream for them to have a better life. I played ball with Joe Bird on the Americans years ago and he was one of those true characters that you dont see that often . He was definitely one of a kind ..you couldnt help but like Joe no matter what happened. Joe was the guy that kept everybody loose and in line . After all of us growing up and going our own ways, who would have ever thought that I would get a call at my job from a bank that was having problems with there system and to come to fine out the tech was Joe, what a small world. I wish the family the best and I know things are hard right know but day by day it will get better and you will always remember the good days you have had. I would have been at the wake but did not fine out until Saturday night.
