Joseph Nuzzo Obituary

Nuzzo, Joseph L. for more than 40 years, Joe drove the 0.9 miles from his Schiller Park house to his real home, his job at O'Hare International Airport. Along the way he trained and mentored several generations of pipefitters and engineers. An irrepressible grouch, accomplished gardener, unflaggingly loyal friend, son, brother, brother-in-law, father and husband, he never failed to show up when needed, no questions asked. He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald, and his wife, Winnie (Tucker) whom he missed and spoke of daily for the past nine years. He leaves behind his brother, Sam (Mary), sisters, Josephine "Dodie" Tarsitano, Genevieve (Pat Lopardo) and June (Michael Petricig), his sister-in-law Ramona, Winnie's amily which grew to be his own, and his extended family at O'Hare and Midway Airports. Finally, his children, John, Lynne and Carla, his daughter-in-law Terri, and his grandchildren, Anna, Joseph and Serafina Nuzzo, and John Francis and Hugh Meehan will miss cheering with him at baseball, basketball and hockey games, joining him for early Sunday and Wednesday morning breakfasts, and looking to him as a role model for family loyalty. Funeral Friday 9 a.m. from Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, to St. Beatrice Church, Schiller Park, Mass 10 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Rd., Des Plaines, Il, 60018. Visitation Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m. For Info., 708- 456-8300 or www.cumberlandchapels.com Visit Guest Book at www.suntimes.com

Uncle Joe,

My father used to immortalize you as "The Man" at O'Hare; after hearing the many wonderful tributes to you, I am reminded again of how right your brother Donald was. Thanks for the memories, our last pizza together at Connie's was terrific. Your kids are the greatest.

Unc... I will miss you're visits to our home... I will miss you're words of wisdom and encouragement... I will miss you're bickering with my dad... I will miss you're joking with my mom... most of all I will miss you, but you will always be in my heart and I will always remember the smile on you're grumpy face!
