Joseph Munn Obituary

I am beyond words to learn of Joe's passing. He's been my accountant for the better part of 15 years and my heart is broken. My heartfelt sympathy and condolences for all of Joe's family. A good man has left this earth, only to watch over you from above.

We tried to contact Joe for tax time on Feb. 20. After several unanswered messages (not like Joe!) I finally thought to check the Trib obituaries. So sad to learn of his passing. We will miss his friendly, knowledgeable advice that we appreciated for 30 plus years.

Joe was one of the nicest, most knowledgeable people I have ever met.
He has been a friend and helped with estate and personal taxes since 1999.
He will be missed by me and I am sure all who knew him.

I don't remember who recommended Joe Munn to me when I needed an accountant to do my taxes, but it was around 1981, and I was newly on my own in a business. Joe had recently started his business and had his office in his home. He was the first person who told me I needed to start at IRA savings program, and I took his advice - THANK YOU, Joe! He prepared my taxes for the next several years, until I met the man I married, in 1989, and married him in 1991. I think Joe still did my tax preparation that year. I appreciated his integrity, kindness, and helpfulness at a rough time in my life. He was someone I could trust, and his counsel was always correct. He was a new father at the time, and always exhibited strong family values. I just "happened" to see his obituary in the Chicago Tribune today and knew from the description this was the person who helped me so much many years ago. To his family, I offer my deepest sympathy in your loss. I know about that loss, as I lost my beloved husband on May 9, 2016 - still grieving that loss and always will. Remember and cherish the good memories that you have - he will be forever in your hearts. God will sustain you and give you the grace and courage to keep on living.
