Dearest Marty and family,
At the end of life, what really matters is not what we bought but what we built...not what we got but what we shared...not our competence but our character. Lived a life that matters. Lived a life of love ... this is what your Dad did... having the gift of meeting him was a gift to me. His 'DNA' lives in all of you. You now have a special Angel watching over you all..as you try to balance the need to work with the need to grieve, may you always remember to be patient and loving towards yourself. Your sanctuary will be the life that your Dad lived and shared... God's blessing Marty,
with our deepest respect,

I also knew him as a customer at both the Buick and Toyota dealerships. He was always a gentleman who sincerely expressed interest in myself and my family. The world was a better place because of Joe's presence. He will be missed by his family and thousands of people who were fortunate enough to make his acquaintance.

Marty and Joe Jr. I send my prayers and support to you and your entire family during this difficult time. Your father is a wonderful man who built a great empire for many to work and support their families as I did when I was younger and I am forever thankful. I know he was even more of a husband, father and grandfather but I mainly knew him on the business side. Thank you for his great contributions and bless you and your family once again.

I was your rep for Subaru when you were still in downtown Park Ridge. I never said this to anyone, but I adored your dad. Such a nice man, grounded in family and in his faith. Loved that he gave the option to him employees of shutting down at noon on Good Friday. He and Mr Zimbrick in Madison, WI were cut from the same cloth - just down to earth good people. Heaven is rejoicing with his arrival!

February 23, 2014

Dear Friends,

I am very sorry for the loss of your great father and a great man. Joe was a complete salesman in the best sense of the word- he was deeply interested in people, what was important to them, and made them feel good by dealing with him. Selling them a car was simply a by product of meeting Joe. He had unique ability to make everyone he talked to feel like they were the most important person to him.

At least he made me feel like that every time I saw him.

I am glad I was able to see and talk with him and Sally a couple of weeks ago when I was in town and took my folks to church at St. Joan.
I deeply regret we will be unable to be with you Monday for the service. Please know you are all in our prayers. And Joe will be in my heart for the rest of my life.

Jack and Cathy Schufreider.
