Jose Padilla Obituary

Padilla, Jose de Jesus (December 6, 1923 - February 13, 2014) Age 90; he lived in the Chicago Lakeview area for 36 years. He was a parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church of which 8 of his 10 children attended school and was a diehard Cubs fan. He worked in the restaurant business for most of his life. He worked at the Club Alabam (11 years). Most notably he worked at La Hacienda Del Sol (27 years) then at Boca Del Rio. He then finally opened his own restaurant San Marcos in Roscoe Village. It was open for 4 years until he retired at the age of 74. He had a strong work ethic which he passed on to his children, working six days a week with very few sick days. He was a man of few words with a smile that could light up a room. He will be missed by many. Devoted husband of the late Josephine (nee Gonzalez) and the present Romana Jaramillo. Predeceased by his sister-in-law, Luz Maria Gonzalez. Beloved father of Chuck Gonzalez, the late Edward, Frank (Marilyn), Henry (Sandra), Jessie, Nina (Tom) Healy, Josephine, Dolores (Matthew) Deifel, Raquel, Ophelia (Jeff) Hinton; beloved grandfather of Tracy Bostrom, Natalie (Dustin) Cook, Brian Padilla, Omar Rosales, Jesse, Wesley and Allena Healy, Andrea and John Deifel. A private mass will be held March 9, 2014.
