JOSE ANGEL GALLARDO, age 81, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 4:23 p.m. at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 2, 1933 in Guatemala, Central America to Cayetano and Juana Morales Gallardo. He had worked at Mac Tools for 24 years and also had worked at Fenton's Equipment where he worked on small engines. He was a member of the Gathering Place, a committee member of the Mac Tool reunion, enjoyed playing soccer, bowling, coaching, working on all types of engines and was a general handyman.
He coached soccer for many years with the Fayette County Soccer Association. He loved helping people and was known as "Dr. Coffee" to many nursing home ladies. Jose was a 'people person' who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved Blue Lion Soccer. When people would ask how he was doing, his favorite phrase was "I'm just fine".
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon Custis Gallardo, his son Brett Ferguson and mother-in-law, Carolyn Pope.
Survivors include his children Heidi (Greg) Phipps of Washington CH, Holly (Luis) Rodriguez of Virginia, Danilo (Teresa) Gallardo of New Jersey and Olga Gallardo of Virginia; grandchildren Garret Phipps, Amanda (Tony) Escobar, Elizabeth (Rob) Cox, Alan (Jocelyn) Rodriguez, Alessa Gallardo, Gabriella, Antonio and Julian Gallardo; great-grandchildren Nathan and Khloe Escobar,
Marcus and Mariah Cox and Alexander and Marie Gallardo and in-laws, Tom and Sharon Custis.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the South Side Church of Christ, 921 S. Fayette St., with Pastor John Pfeifer officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Fayette County, 222 N. Oakland Ave., Washington CH, OH 43160.
