Jose Ayala Obituary

Ayala, Jose Angel Age 71, Las Vegas, NV, passed away surrounded by family on October 19, 2016. He was born in Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico on February 28, 1945 to Lourdes Lopez Rivera (d. October 5, 2010) and Lucio Ayala Favela (d. January 24, 2002) of Durango. He spent most of his adult life in Chicago, IL, where he worked at a meat packing factory and was a member of UFCW Local 1546. He eventually went on to be a small business owner, opening two taverns in Chicago. He also volunteered his time leading a Spanish-speaking Alcoholics Anonymous and enjoyed taking his family to ranchera concerts and carnivals. Above all, he was the family patriarch, and was loved and adored by his large extended family in Los Angeles, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Cotulla, TX, and Durango, Mexico. He is survived by his children, Guillermo Figueroa (Lilia Lopez) of Las Vegas, NV, Angelica Ayala of Cotulla, TX, Uriel Ayala of Chicago, IL, Miguel Ayala of Washington, DC, Maria de Lourdes Ayala of Cotulla, TX, Jaicee Hernandez (Ivan) of Chicago, IL; his brothers and sisters, Sirina Escamilla (Gumecindo) of North Las Vegas, NV, Rafael Ayala (Josefina) of Chicago, IL, Maria Hilda Ayala (Jose Pablo Guzman) of Bell Gardens, CA, Olivia Ayala (Javier Carvajal) of Las Vegas, NV, Enrique Ayala of Los Angeles, CA, Rosa Lopez (Octavio) of Los Angeles, CA, Jose Luis Ayala of Tepehuanes, Durango, MX, and Escolastica Ayala (Hector Cabada) of Mesa de Navar, Durango, Mexico; as well as 6 grandchildren, Lisette, Vida, Daniel, Joseph, Ileana, and Olivia; 4 stepchildren, Doralinda, Pablo, George Sr., Ernesto Sr.; many nieces, nephews, compadres and dear friends and his longtime companion, Elida Bernal Rivera. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, with a Catholic funeral mass at 6:00 p.m., at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 N Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89101. Burial will be at Rancho El Dorador, Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico.
