TRUCKSVILLE — John M. Woychick, 95, of Trucksville, died Oct. 9, 2021, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph Woychick and Josephine (Purvin) Woychick. He was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1944, and King's College, Class of 1951.
In 1947 he married Margaret Farrell, and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage until her death in 2014. Their devotion and love for each other served as a great example of the true definition of marriage.
John was self-employed as a public accountant. Previously he had worked at Purvin Dairy, a family-owned business.
A WWII Veteran, he served with the Army Air Forces (AAF) in Europe.
Above all else, he treasured the time spent with his loved ones. He was an avid golfer and cherished his annual golf trips to Seabrook Island. He was a 39-year member of the Dallas Men's Golf League at Twin Oaks.
John was a dedicated Penn State fan, having taken yearly trips to Beaver Stadium plus visits to the Liberty and Sugar Bowls. A diehard Phillies fan, he never missed a broadcast on radio or TV, especially with his canine best friend, Twix, at his side. He loved to travel, especially to Atlantic City, Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
John was a member of Saint Therese's Church and a former member of its Holy Name Society, and of the Dallas American Legion Post 672.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (2014), daughter Margaret Ann, and brother Joseph.
Survivors include daughter Kathryn Dobias and her husband Joseph, of Turnersville, N.J.; sons, John Jr. and his wife Diane, of Seabrook Island, S.C.; Lou and his wife Darlene, of Shavertown; grandchildren Jeffrey and David Dobias, Kristen Dobias Hood, Heather Woychick Niemi, John Woychick III, Sarah Woychick Der Avedisian, and Jenna Woychick; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. John is also survived by his sister-in-law, Dolores Woychik, of Wilkes-Barre and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Evelyn Farrell, of Dallas.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Village of Greenbriar for their care over the last five years. Special thanks also to both Dr. Richard Michelstein and Dr. John Citti.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Therese's Church, Pioneer Avenue, Shavertown. The Rev. James J. Paisley will officiate. I am terribly sorry for your loss.
I worked with your dad in the Purvin office from 1969 to 1972 when I graduated from nursing school.
Both my parents ( Charles ..winky and my mom , Dolores and my sister , Carol passed away in the past 2 years.) I understand your grief!
Ironically, your dads photo has a distinct likeness to my mom
( another Purvin) in her later years!!
I wish I was able to meet you all at his viewing, but as fate would have it, it just not meant to be!

We are so sorry to hear of Jack´s passing! He was best man at my parent´s wedding!( John O´Connell and Alice Murphy! My Dad and Jack met at King´s College. My mother, Alice Murphy was a high school classmate of Margaret Farrell. Jack and Margaret were already married when they introduced my parents!
Our families kept in touch through phone calls and visits even when we moved to Johnson City, New York!
My Dad passed away in 2016. We had his funeral in Kingston. ( We live in Florida and had moved my Dad down so we could help him)!
Who showed up to pay his respects to our family? You guessed it, my Dad`s best man, Jack!
He was a loyal friend to the very end!
Love you all! So sorry for your loss!!
