John White Obituary

White, John Clarence Was born August 15, 1919 in Birmingham, Alabama, one of six children, to Beatrice and John White. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age. A 1939 graduate of Englewood High School, he served four years in the United States Army on duty in the Philippines. He married his wife, the former Marion Hall in 1944, a union that lasted for 66 years. John was employed by the Chicago Transit Authority for 35 years beginning as a bus driver and eventually serving as assistant station superintendent. When John was not working, he was an avid gardener. He loved his roses and his vegetable garden, and hosting BBQ outings for friends and family. John White departed this life on October 28, 2011. Though preceded in his death by his three sisters, Clarice, Connie and Julia; daughter Cynthia; sons Andre and Adrian; and grandson, Greg; he leaves his wife Marion (Chicago, Illinois); daughters Cozette and Alberta (Chicago, Illinois); grand children Erica (Dallas, Texas), Richard and Brittany (Hanover Park, Illinois), Christine (Country Club Hills, Illinois) and Lance, Dewit, Angel, Christopher and Elisha - all of Chicago, Illinois. He also leaves his sister Bertha Arnold and brother, Bill Hammond, both of Chicago, Illinois, and many great grand children, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish the memories they created together. Mr. White's rememberance service will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home, 63 East 79th Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60619 - with the Reverend Augustus Wright officiating. Visitation is at 4:30 p.m. Repast from 6:30-7:30, Montgomery Place, 5550 S. South Shore Drive. Arrangements are also entrusted to Taylor Funeral Home (773) 488.7300.
