John Stephens Obituary

Cody-we had our first Thanksgiving without you here. It was worse than I thought it would be. I love and miss you, I wish you were here. I hope you know how much you're loved and cherished every day. I will continue to pray that you are at peace...Please God, let this be.

I love you and miss you more than my words on this page can ever say. I tell you out loud but don't know if you can hear me. I hope that you can feel my love and know that someday we will see each other again. You are missed so much by all of us.

Dear family of Cody,
I met Cody in my Calculus class at ISU, and I cant say we were the closest of friends but when we studied for tests, reminiscent of all the good times in calc 1 or poked fun of the way our calc2 teacher taught, I always thought Cody was a really great guy, funny and down to earth. When I heard the news I cried, and every time I eat the Welch's fruit snakes I cry because I remember the time he explained the very-particular way he ate them. I will truly never forget him, and I pray you may all get through this tough time.

John, Mr. and Mrs. Stephens, Scott, Todd, Bob and Jim, and all the rest of the Stephens family, I am so sorry to hear about Cody. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but just one look at his photo reminds me of all the Kenilworth Stephens boys. He has that same Stephens twinkle in his eye. I'm so sorry for your loss. I am so sorry for your loss, and words cannot even describe the sadness I felt when hearing the news. My deepest apologies for not being there with you through this troubling time. I had the pleasure of spending time with Cody multiple times down at Illinois State along with Rick, Alex, and yourself. You and your family our in my thoughts and prayers as well as the prayers of my family. I love you Luke, you're my friend and brother.

Cody was a good friend and I am sad to see him go. I met him freshman year in high school and stayed friends with him ever since. I will never forget how kind and friendly he was to me. I cannot imagine the feeling of loss his family must be experiencing and my deepest sympathies and prayers go out to them.

I proudly taught both Cody and Cassie Stephens at Wilmette Junior High School. While I am devastated to hear of Cody's passing, I vividly remember his quirky and fun sense of humor, curiosity and smile. I will continue to keep the entire family in my thoughts and prayers.
