John Henry Sinkford Sr. John Henry Sinkford Sr., age 64, of Blacksburg St., North Tazewell, Va., passed peacefully from this life into the hands of the Lord on Wed., July 7, 2010, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. John Henry was born on Feb. 3, 1946 in Gary, W.Va., to the late John Adam Sinkford and Macie Edith Harris Sinkford. He was also preceded by his grandparents. John Henry attended Tazewell County High School, where he was a star football player for the Warhawks and was well known as "Little John" lead singer of the Fantastic Souls. He was a supervisor at Betsy Ross Bakery and Flowers Bakery. John Henry later worked as an environmental specialist at Tazewell Community Hospital until he became disabled. He was an avid fan of bowling and football. John Henry was a very kind and compassionate person and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Flora Horton Sinkford; son, John Henry Sinkford Jr. and wife, Patty; daughter, Sonia Alford and husband, Willie, all of Tazewell; special son, Malik Davis of Tazewell; he also recognized the following as his children, Mosie Jordan, Marvin Sparks, III, John Oliver Sparks and Teresa Smith-Redd, all of Tazewell,; brother, Jerry Lewis Sinkford, Sr. and wife, Zenia, of Salem, Va.; special brothers, Theodore Harris of Bluefield, W.Va., and Isaac Harris of Pittsburgh, Pa.,; grandchildren, Kathryn and Brittany Lambert, Whitney, Will, and Macie Alford, all of Tazewell; last surviving aunt, Aretha Harris of Bluefield, Va.; mother-in-law, Helen Horton; and special friend, William "Wimpy" Jones of Tazewell. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Mon., July 12, 2010 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, with the Rev. Chris White officiating. Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell. Pallbearers were Emory Jordan, Shae Moore, John Sparks, Carl Davis, Jr., Jerry Sinkford Jr., Reginald Lambright Sr., John Rhudy, and John Horton. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Stephen Rinehart, Dr. William Frye, Dr. William Welch, Joyce Martin, PA, Dr. Randy Clements, Dr. K.C. Lewis, Paul Winfrey, Jr., Sam Watkins, Jr., Robert R.
