Showalter Sr., John Patrick long time resident of the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago and WW II Navy Veteran, beloved husband of the late LaVerne Showalter (nee Murphy), loving father of Julie Showalter (Matt Makowski), Theresa (Jim) Costello, Russell (Laura) Showalter, Carol (Steve) Napleton, Jim (Dr. Marcia Blake) Collins, Barbara (Steve) Schaefer, Mary Pat (Ron) Schlereth, Judi (Bob) Lancaster, and the late John Jr., dearest grandfather of Ryan, Kyle and Lindsey Showalter; Hanna, Emma and Keenan Makowski; Brian and Sean Blake-Collins; Beth, Stephen, Christopher (Julie), Courtney, Katie, Danny, Matthew and Amy Napleton, fond great-grandfather, recipient of loving care for many years from Albinas Fabijonas. Mr. Showalter was a long time member of the Boilermakers Union Local 1. Former owner of Andee Boiler & Welding Company of Chicago and in 1991 received The City of Chicago's Gardener of the Year award. He was a devoted husband and father, a kind and gentle man with a heart of gold. Visitation Saturday, August 28, 2010, 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Mr. Showalter was a kind and loving man to his family and friends. He is missed a lot. He would love his two great grandchildren, Evan and Maeve. I am sure he looks over his doting family from above.
