It has been over 4 months and we miss Mr. Ruiz dearly. We saw him at least once a week on the backporch of my parents' house. He always called me by his goofy nickname for me, "Mopsey."
Mr. Ruiz, 'Webster' was always good for a laugh. He was the only one who truly made my parents' smile! My dad and Mr. Ruiz spoke their own language to the squirrels and we all laughed. Thanks for touching our lives in a special way!
Jim feels cheated for only knowing you a few years. I was lucky to know you my whole life! We love you forever, Webbie. Tell Mrs. Ruiz that we said hi!

Over a month and I still can't believe he's not right outside on the backporch. I will miss John for the rest of my days. He is one of the sweetest and smartest men that I have ever known. A true friend. A protector. Honest, silly, but sincere. I could tell him anything . . . anything - and I did and he kept it all in his heart. God Bless you, John. I know you and Betty are having a great time. I love you both and will miss you, my dear, dear friends . . .till we meet again.

To John Ruiz's family:
I am a member of CATS and, as such, have known John for a couple of years. I was very saddened to learn of John's death, especially as I saw him a couple of weeks ago and thought how well he looked and thought he had beaten the cancer, so it was a shock when Carolyn Popp announced his death on Sunday. Please accept my sympathies.

A spirited player, both on and off the court, John was blessed with a sense of fairness and generosity. He was quick to praise as well as to forgive his fellow team mates and opponents. I will remember him not just as a fellow tennis player, but as an enduring reminder about how to face life's set-backs and still smile.

John was a very special person in the eyes of many he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was always eager to be involved in the Ski club and CATS activities. John never complained in spite of all he was going thru and would do anything to help anyone who needed it... always with a smile on his face. John I will pray for you and all of your Family..My deepest sympathy to all. Love Joni Tuke
