John L. Pienta, age 77, passed away February 1, 2024 surrounded by family. Devoted husband of Catherine "Kitty", nee Beyer; loving Father of John(Mary), Susan Marzano, Peggy(Tim)Cook and Dan(Julie). Dearest Grandfather "Baka" of Michael(Madeline)Marzano, Jack, Charlie and Jane Pienta, Danny and Kay Cook, Danny and Lauren Pienta. Soon to be Great Grandfather of Baby Marzano. Cherished son of the late Louis and the late Adeline Pienta. Dear Brother of Judy(Larry)Gierut and Betty(Jack)Shopin. Fond Uncle of many nieces and nephews. John was a friend to many and will always be remembered for his devotion to his family, his generosity, his endless curiosity for life and people, his playful, antagonistic sense of humor, his distinctive, reassuring voice and of course, his blue eyes and iconic mustache.Visitation Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine, 7740 S. Western Ave, Chicago, IL(Visitation 10am-12pm, Mass 12pm) A celebration of John's life will take place at Barney Callaghan's Pub 10618 S. Western Ave immediately following Mass. Interment private Mount Olivet Cemetery Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's honor may be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation https://t2t.org/donate/
