I know its been over a year since John passed but I have felt compelled to write this. I was a neighbor of John's for years and had the fortune of becoming friends with him.
I feel most people who read this will already know the John that I knew: the kind, patient, and outgoing kind of person who you just loved being around. He had a way of making you feel good about yourself. He was genuine and giving. Even though I cannot say that John and I were close, I can say that I have never met anyone else like him.
John and I drifted apart as I began traveling more. It was three months after his death that I first heard of the tragedy.
To this day, I still can't believe that I won't see him driving through the neighborhood. My heart still aches over the thought of his passing.

My deepest condolences on John, he was a karate good friend of mine back in the '80s. In fact we went to see Paul in a full-contact Ashihara tournament in Denver together back around Feb. of 1985. I haven't seen Paul in many years but would like to talk with him, so if you could pass my # on, it would be appreciated. My name is Norman Lehr - (cell) 214-893-9104. Thank you and God bless.
