John Mack Obituary

Mack, John Richard "Richie" of Palatine for over 45 years. Prayers will be said at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2008, Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m., at St. Theresa Church, 465 N. Benton St., Palatine, IL 60067. Interment St. Michael The Archangel-Palatine. The Iron Man, age 78, survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (nee Smerecky), daughters Laura (Phil) Maplethorpe and Victoria (Bob Nealon) Mack, granddaughters Jamie and Jodie Maplethorpe, his brother Robert (Ruth) Mack, and niece Melissa (Tim) Horne. He joins in heaven his parents, Tony and Lottie, and his sister Tootsie. John was born in Chicago, and is a longtime resident of Palatine. He worked as an engineer for over 45 years for Motorola and Matsushita. He was a master gardener and passionate Bears fan. He never met a machine he couldn't fix, or a person he wouldn't help. John's family thanks his nurses for their compassionate care the past six weeks, and his neighbor Dave Honquest for his many acts of kindness during John's illness. Visitation at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 15th, from 3 to 9 p.m. Please omit flowers. Arrangements by Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home Palatine, 847-358-7411.
