John Hooten Obituary

HOOTEN, JOHN J., Born: Sept. 26, 1923 in Checotah, OK to the late George & Lee Hooten. Died: June 25, 2005 in Dallas. He graduated from high school in Stewart, OK in 1941. He severed from 1942-44 in the Army on the hospital ship The Weder. He was a 1950 graduate of Oklahoma State University. He married the former Melba Tackett on Nov. 3, 1952. He worked for Swift & Co. as a processing plant manager from 1950-65. He was employed by Donrey Media Group in Ft. Smith, AR from 1965-70 and retired from Bank of America in 1985 as a Purchasing Director. He was a loving, supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He served as an elder at the White Rock Church of Christ for 23 yrs. Survivors: loving wife, Melba Hooten of Dallas. Daughter, Kathy Pitchford & husband Eddy of Midlothian, TX. Son, Roger Hooten & wife Sheila of Columbia, MO. Son, Terry Hooten & wife Kelly of Frisco, TX. Grandchildren: Amy Walker & husband Chip, Alan, Adam, John, Katie Hooten, & Tiffany Pitchford. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral: White Rock Church of Christ, 9220 Ferguson Rd., Dallas, TX., on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Eddy Pitchford and Jim Begin officiating.
