John Guy Obituary

John Ed Guy
April 30, 1919-May 5, 2014
Passed away at the age of 95 years old at Oak Ridge Methodist Hospital.
He grew up in Roane County on a farm on Gallaher Road, served 22 years in the United States Army, where he was decorated twice for meritorious valor under fire, fought in North Africa, the Normandy D-Day Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, the Korean War, and the Dominican Republic military action. He also served in various parts of the Far East, supporting our troops during the early years of the Vietnam War. He retired as a master sergeant, the highest noncommissioned office rank in the United States Army at that time.
A father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Tom Leonard Guy, John Norman Guy and Brenda Ann Guy; grandson and grandson's fiancée, John Kenneth Guy and Brittany Roman; granddaughter and her husband, Stacey Ann Roman and Ted Roman; and great-grandson, Hagan Pierce Roman.
The funeral was at the home of the recently departed Thelma B. Guettner, 1060 Poplar Springs Road, Kingston, TN 37763, at noon Wednesday, May 7. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City, was in charge of arrangements.
I FOUND REST
I walked a road hard and long,
Saw many a trouble that made me strong;
But in the end I found great rest.
