John Gresch Obituary
John Charles Gresch, 74, of Elmwood Park, Illinois, passed away on December 14, 2023. Born on April 27, 1949, in Oak Park, Illinois, John was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many.
John was always known for his helpful nature and was always willing to lend a hand to his numerous friends, neighbors, and cousins. He had a passion for mentoring at-risk youth and dedicated his time to making a positive impact on their lives. John also actively participated in various political campaigns, using his skills and knowledge to support causes he believed in. In addition, he worked with rock-n-roll bands and provided his handyman services, showcasing his versatility and love for music and craftsmanship.
Outside of his career, John had a variety of hobbies that he enjoyed. He was a member of a Bocce ball team, where he spent many enjoyable hours competing and socializing with fellow players. Fishing was another pastime that brought him joy and relaxation. John also loved playing cards and engaging in friendly card games with his loved ones.
John is survived by his brother, Thomas John Gresch of Otis Orchards, Washington, and sister-in-law Karen Gresch of Otis Orchards, Washington. He was also a cherished uncle to his nephew, Thomas John Gresch II of Otis Orchards, Washington, and niece, Amy Katherine Mason of Liberty Lake, Washington. John had a special bond with his "nephew" Joey Krzysczak and was considered a beloved member of his "Elmwood Park" family.
John was preceded in death by his brother, James Joseph Gresch, as well as his father, Thomas Joseph Gresch, and mother, Martina Mary Mahoney Gresch. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who loved them.
A celebration of John's life is planned at the Elmwood Park Community Center, 4 Conti Parkway, Elmwood Park, IL on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, from 6-9pm. It will be an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share stories, and honor the life of a remarkable individual.
John Charles Gresch will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and dedication to others will always be remembered and cherished.

My sympathy to the family & friends of John. I grew up as a neighbor to the family and John was always helpful, friendly, & considerate to my family and others. He loved the outdoors, & had beautiful garden plants as I recall.
